About Elena Martinez & This Blog
The story behind Amsterdam Art Walks and why I'm passionate about sharing museum experiences
Hi, I'm Elena Martinez! đź‘‹
Graphic Designer | Museum Enthusiast | Travel Blogger from Barcelona, Spain
I'm a 32-year-old creative professional who discovered that my two greatest passions—art and travel—combine perfectly in museum tourism. By day, I design brand identities and digital experiences for clients across Europe. By heart, I'm a lifelong learner who finds endless inspiration in galleries and exhibitions.
Growing up in Barcelona surrounded by GaudĂ, Picasso, and MirĂł shaped my appreciation for art from an early age. But it wasn't until my first trip to Paris at 25 that I truly fell in love with museums as destinations in themselves—not just places to see art, but spaces to experience stories, connect with history, and understand different perspectives.
Fun fact: I keep a "museum journal" where I sketch my favorite pieces and write impressions from every museum I visit. Amsterdam entries take up 47 pages! đź“”
đź’ Why I Created This Blog
Amsterdam had been on my museum bucket list for years. The Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank House—these weren't just tourist attractions to me; they were places I'd dreamed about visiting since art school. In August 2025, I finally made it happen, dedicating two full weeks to exploring Amsterdam's cultural treasures.
While planning my trip, I spent countless hours reading blogs, watching videos, and studying maps. I found lots of basic information and professional travel guides, but I craved something more personal—the real experience, the practical challenges, the emotional moments that don't make it into official descriptions.
That's when I decided: I'll create the guide I wish I had found. Not a professional travel site with sterile descriptions, but a personal blog with genuine experiences, honest opinions, and practical tips from someone who actually cares about making the most of every museum visit.
My goal: Help fellow museum lovers plan amazing visits by sharing real insights—the good, the challenging, and the unforgettable moments that make museum travel so rewarding.
đź”’ My Values: Independence & Transparency
100% Independent Reviews
Every ticket was purchased with my own money at standard prices. No museums gave me free entry, promotional consideration, or special access. I waited in the same lines, followed the same rules, and experienced exactly what you would experience. My reviews reflect genuine, unbiased impressions.
Honest & Transparent
I share both positives and negatives. If a museum was crowded, I say so. If ticket booking was confusing, I explain it. If I was disappointed by something, I'm honest about it. You deserve complete transparency to make informed decisions about your own visits.
Ad-Supported, Not Sponsored
This blog displays Google AdSense ads to cover hosting costs. However, advertising revenue does NOT influence my content. I have complete editorial independence. Museums don't pay me, advertisers don't control me, and my opinions remain 100% my own.
